Hi everyone! I have learned much from this site and wanted to introduce myself. Long time lurker, short time member and first time poster.
I am from the twin cities and have a typical suburban house with a common 3 car attached garage with a wall splitting one of the stalls for my toy that my wife and I enjoy on occasion.
A 100 miles or so to the east, we have a cabin in WI that I built and finished myself except for the concrete and roof. It has an attached 28x30 garage that is more of a shop/ entertainment room than an actual garage but 2 cars can and will fit nicely when weather is an issue. After spending a good 8 years working most of my summer weekends on it. I chose to just sit back, drink some beer and be the GC for the detached garage. The shell was completed last fall and I thought I'd share...
It's 30 x 50 (Maximum county will allow) with a pair of 10 x 10 doors on the gable end. 2' overhang all around.
12' wall height with scissor trusses in the back and storage trusses over the garage doors.
The back end is in the ground ~8' and has poured insulated walls and 2 x 6 sticks above grade.
It is ready for in floor heat and plan on spraying the insulation once I complete the electrical this spring.
I will be adding a 4 post lift for additional floor space.
It is and will be used the next few years for storage and eventually my shop once we move there.
I took away many ideas from you on here and have learned a great deal as well. The only thing I second guess are the doors. I would have gone now with one large overhead door instead.
If you guys don't mind, I will stick around awhile!
