Hello from Montana!

Hi Folks,

I've been looking at the site for ideas on how to better organize my garage, so I decided to join. I was hooked when I saw the repurposing thread elsewhere on the forum. I am more than a bit OCD when it comes to organization and repurposing.

I don't have pics of my garage at the moment, but will try to remember to take pics at some point.

What do I do in my garage? Mainly work on small engines (i.e. riding mower, snowblower, etc.) and small Honda motorcycles (CT70, CT90). Sometimes I do a bit of woodworking but I'm not terribly good at it (but I am learning).

What do I do for a living? I teach chemistry at a small local college - I have also taught physics, geology, and forensics from time to time. This allows me to not teach in the summers and actually try to get some projects started (note I didn't say completed! ).

GEO: well you sound like my brother from another mother and if you look at some of my threads i started and that i post on you'll see why i say that.

you are also from maybe the friendliest state in the entire USA so welcome and we always like to have teachers join us. especially those that want to learn stuff too.

check out the WOODWORKING 101 thread we just started for starters and plenty of other good threads for you if you have the time. also if you have any questions just ask and if you have pictures post them up for us to learn more about you and it's a good thing to show yourself where you were maybe a year or two from now as you have more tools and more skills from joining our growing group.

Thanks for the welcome! I'll get out and take some pics of the garage once it quits being below zero (Fahrenheit) later this week.

Welcome to the forum from S.E. Wisconsin. I have a suggestion, put your location under your login name as that will help if you ask a question. Many times your location will have a direct bearing on the answer to the question.

When working on a project, pictures help a lot. We LOVE pictures, the more the better, so please post pictures of projects that you do.

When I saw Montana, I knew I had to say hi, then I saw you are up in the Flathead. My shop is up in the Flathead, but I'm currently in Helena working on my airframe & powerplant cert.

Looking forward to a nicer change in temps in the coming week.

I belong to another group on Facebook and one of the guys posted a realtor listing for one of the little islands on flathead lake. Is that near you?

You are correct! We are about 10 miles north of Flathead Lake. The islands in question are most likely on the southern third of the lake, probably about 30 miles away. Lots of expensive houses on some of those islands!

Oooh, if I could live anywhere in the U.S. ,it would be upstate coastal Maine or Montana. Maybe Oregon or Washington but I've never been there. Do you love Montana?

GTA: i can vouch for Washington (lived here most of 61 years), love OREGON COAST and MONTANA is maybe my favorite state cause of all the room, no traffic and everybody speaks English and is friendly. haven't been to Maine yet, but i'm sure we'll have a trip planned to there before too long cause we hear the fall is amazing with all the leaves turning colors. LEAF PEEPING I hear is on my wife's BUCKET LIST!!
