Evan Thayer here. I’ve been lurking but I’m making it official!
I’m into product design, prototyping in wood & plastics & metal, and electronics & automation. I’m an architect by training but have done a fair amount of furniture design, too. I do mostly wood work in the shop but I’ve recently gotten back into metal work after a 10 year or so gap.
My garage’s wood equipment includes a CNC router, table saw, jointer, planer, miter saw, band saw, drill press, a recent Wilton vise, various air compressors, and a full complement of Festool power tools. On the metal side I’ve got a flux core welder, a 1952 South Bend 9A lathe, a hydraulic press, a horizontal band saw, and Prentiss #524, and a full complement of hand tools across all categories. I also run a 3D printer and a fair amount of vintage electrical test equipment at my bench.
I live in the Bay Area and lead Real Estate & Development for an alternative final resting place company called “Better Place Forests” and was at Apple before that running global retail facilities.
Nice to meet you all!
