Hi all!

Long time lurker, um learner, first time posting to introduce myself and because I need some help identifying a 3-drawer tool chest.

I don't think it's worth anything but I'd like some help to figure out if the side plates the drawer sliders are welded on can be removed without bending the box out of shape. Will include link here as soon as I start that thread.

My "workshop" is a corner parking space in my apartment building's underground, open-air parking garage. The cabinets 8-ft tall, 30"-wide, 24"-deep Ikea frames with some cedar doors I built and hung on a bypass track. Lumber cart only takes up 6 sqft of real estate so the compact car can still fit. Power comes through an extension cord to surge protector strip from our entry "patio" space to inside that cabinet. LED lights are attached via 3M heavy duty mounting tape.

Oops - looks like I can't include a link to my thread until I have more posts. Title is "Need help with ID: 3-drawer tool chest."

Hello and thanks!

I'm up in the bay area of California where space comes at a premium price so I'm making good use of what's available. We're lucky to have off-street parking and even some first come, first serve guest parking in the garage where I can put the car when working on projects.

The standing cabinet frames started it all when they were being discontinued at Ikea: $11 each! I hauled three home and have been trying to improve the space ever since.

Wow.........You REALLY wanted some workshop space!!!

Great job! Photos inside the cabinets?

Bill

Yes - I REALLY did! Cabinet interiors are still a work in progress, but I'll post up as soon as they get sorted. Good motivation!

My power tools are elsewhere since those are pretty piddly locks on the doors. Our garage is secured with a gate and keyed pedestrian gates but we've had opportunistic thefts before. Typically ducking in after a car. My spot is in the far corner away from the street and has a camera on it, but still...
