Hi all, I've been living in here in Northern NM for the last 2 decades or so, been lurking around here for the past few months.
Figured I should get my act together and say hi.

I spend a lot of time on the dirt bike and 4x4, so there's usually something horribly broken and torn apart in my 1.5 car garage.
I'm not a mechanic by trade, but find working with my hands a nice distraction from my day job as a Linux Sysadmin.

I recently insulated the door with CCF and ran some 240v with new lights, excited to share my struggles and triumphs with you guys and gals.

Welcome to the Forum from Southwestern California.

Why are you using 240 for lighting circuits?
The garage only originally had one 15 amp 120 line. I've blown it before with silly stuff like running worklights and a grinder lmao.

Unfortunately, the breaker panel for our house is on the other side, 100 ft away from the garage.
So we ran a 50 amp 240v line through the attic to another breaker panel in the garage, broke out 120v lights on one string, some better outlets, and 240v for the heater and welder.

So you ran a 50 Amp feed to a Sub Panel and are using 120 from that for lighting?

Makes sense to me.

Nice Taco mate! Is that a snowplow attachment on the front?

I've got a manual swapped 2000 4Runner. Unfortunately just (literally) exploded my axle seals and bearings while 6 hours from home over Christmas :(

Hope you don't have to ever deal with leaking rear seals, its a real pain!

Yep! It sure is nice having heat and being able to actually use a proper welder.
Huge difference between a 120v and 240v Mig.
