Hello All.

I'm a 34 year old male who loves to tinker in the garage on any and everything!!! I love anything to do with outside and building with my hands!! I'm into computers by trade, but recently got my first muscle car that I'm attempting to restore.. Yeah, I said ATTEMPT... It's a 69 Chevelle Malibu and I'm looking for any tips/secrets on getting my garage ready for the work.. My garage is 19x25, with one 16x7 and a 8x7 door. I have already put up shelves and have a couple of work benches and a peg board installed. Next will be flooring, insulation, and some type of heat and cooling. It's cold in the winter and too hot in the summer!!!

My dream is to have a separate garage/workshop built. But, that will come in time and another house!!!!

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Texan. I live in Glen Rose which is about 70 to 80 miles south of you. I am out of state working in Michigan for a couple of months. Hope to see some pictures posted of that garage project.:)

OK. Finally was able to snap a few photos of the garage today. Take a look and advise any comments/tips on maximizing my space to work on my Chevelle. There's a couple of partial snaps of the car.

thx

nice little start there. I recommend ditching the gen 1 SBC and go with an LS2 or 6.0 Iron block. Cant beat the power/mileage/durability.

Here's a few photo's of the car. It's mostly disassembled expect the rear end. I have some major rust damage in areas that I need to repair as well.

Since I already have a 350, I figured I'll do a quick rebuild with Vortec heads to at least get it running...

Great project, love those cars. Just make sure on the vortec that the cam is less than
.470 lift or the springs will bind. if you go above .470 you have to take them to the machine shop and get the guides cut down. Just FYI on case you didnt know.

Thanks...I've already done the homework on the heads and max lift on the cam. There's a set of these heads available mail order with the machine work already done to accept more lift...
