Been lurking, guess I should say hello.

I like the site so far, there is a ton of great information and ideas here. Thanks.

I am in the process of making my garage more useable. Its a two car garage with stairs that go down to the basement, where my wood shop is located. The garage had two cars in it, I sold one to make room for the other car, a 57 Chevy Belair hardtop. Now I have some room to actually work on the car without having to move the other car first.

Is there a forum for "basement wood shops" anywhere?

Welcome and we have wood shops in basements, garages, sheds, attics and second floors. Start some threads about your projects and spaces or ask some questions, maybe start a thread question about basement wood shops and you can start a chain reaction.

A garage with a basement? And a Bel Air? Now I'm a jealous neighbor.

Actually its just the stairs going down to the basement. When the garage was added on to the house they wanted a second entrance/exit for the basement, so they dug it inside the new garage. It is actually quite handy and very convenient. Especially when I have tools in the basement so now I can just go down the stairs to get things instead of tracking through the kitchen, down those stairs, tracking through the finished area of the basement, etc...

Where you located in jersey?

Hackettstown. Detached garage with my business (and a Monte Carlo, and a VW, and a Jeep) in it, house basement used to be a garage itself then it was a wood shop now it's pretty bare cause it has low ceilings and I don't like that. Converting part of the back half of the garage to a small wood shop for my father, he's outgrown his.

My upholstery guy is over there but I think he's retiring. I should really keep up, haven't actually done seats in a couple years.
