Hi GJ,
After telling a co-worker that I am looking into building a garage, he recommended this forum. I believe I am finally ready to narrow my options and start detailed planning.
So far I have cleared the area I plan to build the garage. My original plan was to build a 3 bay, 2 for our daily's and the 3rd for projects which would include a 2 post lift. Due to the pie shape of our property and the lower voltage power lines in the back yard, I will be limited to 24' deep x 32' or 33' wide.
I have a few questions that may need to be broken out into new threads but figure I would ask here first.
1. Is it unrealistic to build 3 bay's with a lift in a 24 x 32 building?
2. What is the preferred construction type? pole barn, stick framing, or steel?
I am leaning towards framing it myself, are their any drawbacks over pole
barn construction. I have framed garages in the past when I worked
construction.
