Hi I'm Mark, a toolmaker and car enthusiast from New Zealand.
I've bought some land and started a new shed build, as big as could be afforded for the ever expanding project collection (20x16m footprint). A friend suggested to come drool over this site and he was right! Lots of reading to do!
I have a fair idea how to do things, but could do with some suggestions.
Look forward to being in the garage again:rocker:

G'day and welcome aboard Mark, from across the ditch.

Looking forward to following your build.

G'day all. im in rural franklin (counties), just south of auckland. Not too keen posting exact location online for obvious reasons.
This shed is for metal. plan to restore some old toyotas, build some engines and fix the clapped out machinery my family tend to dump on me. The shed will have rooms off the side for dirty activities and a lounge area (just because) so hopefully keep the main area free of weld/grind dust etc. 10x16m main area with 4m stud and hoist, 6x8 dirty room, 6x8 open leanto and 2off 4x8 rooms for machinery and lounge.
Im a total DIY guy, so hopefully this plan has everything required for the home mechanic/machinist/fabricator/tinkerer.

The property already had an old pole shed 21x12 ish which was derelict so we're re roofing that and laying concrete. That will become the old mans cave for his wood workings. He restores furniture and makes wood things from slabbed macracarpa etc.
My brother is an arborist. one kills, one mills. ha

When I said "Steel or timber?" I really was meaning WHAT are you building the shed out of.
I don't think ANYONE on here gives out "exact location"
Quest was to figure out what part of the country you are in.. lol eg Northland or Stewart Island.

Timber framed, karaka green coloursteel cladding and roof, kiwi shed style with continuous roof, 15degree gable flowing into 5degree leanto. I hate cleaning gutters :p
Have started a thread in gallery for more detail.

cheers for the warm welcome. quite an active forum!
