Hello! I have actually lurked around these parts for a while as my wife and I looked for our first house. We finally found a nice two story with an over sized two car garage. Not exactly the outbuilding I wanted, but being our first home, we couldn't have everything we wanted.

First step for the garage is more power, only one outlet currently, blocking the outside wall and then adding insulation to keep it warmer in the winter. I have a workbench made out of ply wood and 4x4s ready to move in after the power and insulation project is completed. I am currently looking for an inexpensive tool storage solution as it appears apartment life and working out of friends garages was not good for my collection. I also seem to spend to much time looking for tools when working on projects.

Thanks for reading,

Sean

Welcome to GJ, Sean. Your oversized 2-car garage can be considered a starting point. There are some here who have figured out how to get 4 cars and a workshop in the space you have.

Your project sounds great. When you are pulling electric, pull a circuit for adding lights. I just put up 11 fluorescent lights and it's awesome. I shoudl have done that first.

Here at GJ, we have plenty of ideas on tool storage and just as many other opinions. Feel free to browse around.

Good Luck on your project.
