I'm an accountant by day, new dad by night, and mechanic/carpenter when something breaks. Since my wife and I bought our first home a little over 3 years ago, I've gotten really into DIY projects and all the fun tools that go with it. I stumbled upon this website after my wife's grandfather passed away and I found some interesting tools in his basement. I just half restored a vise (still has the "old" look to it) and cleaned up some other tools and I am hooked. I know what I'll be looking for at the garage sales this spring!

Anyway, I probably won't post much, but I will use this place as a resource and to get my tool fix. Go Bucks!

Smith: sounds like i might see you a bit over on the vise repair 101 thread or main vise thread with that old vise. care to share a few pictures on this thread so you can practice posting pictures? what writing is on it like brand and model #?

that's how i learned to get a little handier was when i bought my house almost 30 years ago. you'll learn a lot here and just a little warning you might tend to buy more tools than you ever thought existed and the new knowledge to use them so be ready to have less money in your wallet.

cheers

Ah yes, I believe that is the exact thread that I stumbled upon and got me hooked on this site!

The vise is a Wizard 4H4836. It is missing a handle, but it has the original square head bolts that my wife's great grandpa used to bolt it to his bench. I do not have any pictures of it, but I may have to go take a few.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.
