Hi all! Wonderful site here, been lurking and reading for a few months in preparation for my garage build which is just getting underway. I really appreciate a well run and informative forum, looks like there are many excellent members around here willing to share info.

Retired air traffic controller, absolutely loving retirement! Was an A&P mechanic in a previous life before ATC. Jack of all trades, master of NONE! :) I've done a small amount of building, maybe just enough to be dangerous. ;)

Building a 40X44X12 garage for RV and boat storage and a lift. Every year older, I dislike working on things in the driveway even more. Concrete was contracted out and the rest is on me.

Thank you for the kind welcome. Here's a couple pics, I skipped a few steps in between. I'll probably start some sort of a build thread.

This was day 1 of clearing the jungle back in March.

And here we have the concrete work completed. I'm not much farther along now, slow and steady from here.

Exx: thanks for the great pictures. looks like you have a great start. no hurry and make sure you make all the plans on paper before you start the framing because that will go up fast. easier to make runs for wiring and plumbing too before you finish the inside walls.

BTW some lifts require 12 foot 2 inch height for full extension so if you might be planning a lift see with it says before you limit your height to 12 foot if you haven't built the walls yet.

you might want to start a build thread in the garage gallery and since there are a ton of them in there just keep posting pictures and giving details and asking questions to get help as others follow.

also you can go in your profile and put the link to your build thread in your signature and a car or pet or favorite picture as you Avitar under your name if you want one there sort of like my buffalo made out of old tools i'm using now. I've had a few different ones and you can change as often as you like. if you keep it the same some of the members might recognize your photo more than your name. some are pretty interesting to say the least.
