Hi everyone. I'm new to this form and look forward to many conversations! This is my first forum ever!
I'm hoping to get feedback on some of the automotive scanners on the market. I currently look after a fleet of about 6oo trucks ranging from 1/2 tons to 2 tons. All of which are newer units ranging from 2010s to 2014s in makes from Dodge, GMC, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, etc. With the new computerized systems out there today we have our work cut out for us trying to stay on top of breakdowns. We here in Fort McMurray, Alberta deal with some of the harshest conditions, I believe, from around the world.
I'm trying to find out what scanner systems will work the best for all around usage. Keeping in mind my fleet is new model years or close to it. Forget all the advertising out there! I want real life stories from you guys out there who actually use the systems. Some of the issues we face here is thing like reprogramming Body Control Modules on GMs, reprogramming lost keys, performing re-generations on diesels, and a list of other issues we face daily.
I recently bought a Chrysler WiTech System and it's great so far. It takes a lot of training but I think it's worth it. I need to find another scanner that will work for all around usage but many of the systems out there are only as good as the techs using them. Something I read recently made a good point. I don't want my techs to be just techs. I want them to be great diagnostic technicians and so I want them to have the best.
Anybody out there have any suggestions as far as systems go?
Thanks
Gerald
