Hello-

Awesome site! My wife and I are in the process of buying our first home and I ran across this forum while researching garage flooring options. We have been renting a house for the last year and half (since we've been married) and are looking forward to getting into our new home mid-January. Naturally, my favorite part about the new house is that it has a 3 car garage :)

I have a '12 mustang GT that I track (prepping the car for w2w racing in '15) and we are also in the process of building a 1960 Austin Mini (plans for R1 engine swap) for my wife to track. So along with our other two DD cars, the extra space will be welcomed with open arms!

My first project once we get moved in will be to apply an epoxy coating to the floor. I'm sure I'll start a "garage build" thread once the time comes to document my (un)functional home race shop.

Glad to be here.

I know everyone likes pictures so here are a few of the cars...

Oh cool. I lived in Edmond for a few years when I was growing up.

We live in Jenks right now but are moving to Glenpool, a few miles down the road. Just a little south of Tulsa.

Roadhouse: sweet car and happy to have another member join that appreciates the forum. almost 40 years ago i owned a 1970 Mach 1 with a 428 cobra jet in it. i didn't get many tickets because it was pretty quick, but i still remember getting a ticket for 00 over the speed limit because he saw me take off down the road and caught me when i didn't think he was there.

i wish i still had that car, but sadly i'm a Honda guy now because with 5 kids they are dependable and no time or money to spend on cars.

welcome to the site and if you might need information on old tools just PM me if you can't find what you are looking for. there is a ton of information on here and happy to hear you are already posting pictures.

cheers

'70 Mach 1...NICE! I'd like to own/restore an older mustang one of these days.

Thanks for the welcome and tip on old tools.

Hello from OKC. Welcome aboard. Nice Mustang. I have a soft spot for that Austin. I like the stuff you don't see everyday. Keep us to date on that epoxy floor. I want to do something like that to my shop. Good luck with your projects.

Another OK guy!

The Austin should be pretty cool once we get it done, but it will be awhile. I know there is a classic mini running around OKC and another guy around Tulsa that's building one. But overall they are pretty rare in the states. Especially a bike engine car.

Will do on the epoxy.

Pic of new house/garage

Only cool feature about the garage right now (other than being larger than previous 2 car) is that it has a built-in safe room/tornado shelter. Hopefully we never have to use this, but it's nice to have since we live in tornado alley. My OK peeps will understand :)

Roadhouse: while i love brick homes and grew up in one don't they become like flying bullets in a tornado? negative comment aside i do like the street appeal of your home.

one of the guys in your area built a huge detached garage in his subdivision and in his house's garage the tornado shelter was under his garage in a cement hole with bench seats. i'll try to look up the link if you are interested or practice your searching on our forum if you might want to see it and others. the thread i think had 7 car garage in it and it wasn't Madhatter's in KY.

thanks for the picture

Modern brick homes hold up pretty well to storms but at some point there is just not much you can do to cost-effectively protect your home against a high category tornado. Majority of homes in the area are brick. Rather be in this than a mobile home! ;)

If I were building a home for myself I would prefer an in-ground shelter but these safe rooms are built out of heavy steel and have to meet certain guidelines regarding wind velocity and such.

Had an in ground shelter installed in the Spring. A 6X8 was 3400 or so. I like the above ground safe room designs. Great place to store this and that. I like mine in the backyard cause I can see to the SW, where all the good storms come from, so I can sit on the porch and watch until the last minute. Looks like you guys have all been to Hallet.......most of the guys on this site would love that place. Greetings from Morrison/Stillwater.

Thanks. I went to school at OSU so I'm familiar with the Stillwater area. I miss it.

Once you hear the sirens you're supposed to go outside with your camera, right?? :)

Yes, I've been going to Hallett for a few years now. Absolutely great track. The Stephens family runs a good show out there.

Never been to Hallet, just a few buds that have, and an acquaintance that does the promotions and photographs there. I am tempted to take my GMC 1/2 ton out on open track day. I retired from the Army and finished up school at OSU last year. That was weird. What is more weird, is the past year we have had more noticeable earthquakes than bad storms.

Welcome!

Absolutely. A the guys go stand in the driveway and point at the clouds while their wives yell at them for being dumbasses from the garage.

Go Pokes!
