Hello all, I am a woman who wants a workshop! I've been lurking here several months.

I have a two car garage for cars and a separate single car garage with a garage door on front and back. Since it opens to the back yard, the end of the garage is where I store my yard tools, pots etc.

I brought a couple of Gladiator cabinets with me after divorce but ended up with few tools. I love to tinker and putter though so would like to get some wood working tools. I just bought a Gladiator workbench that will double for small projects as well as a potting bench and installed some gear track for storage. My future vision is to also move elliptical machine in and put a TV out there. Currently I do park in the garage to give daughter max space for parking in double car garage so have limited space currently(primarily at end of garage). I have been debating on putting floor tiles in there just for looks and to spiff it up some. I was thinking the Gladiator tiles, but then found the other manufacturers in the forum here. So I'm not sure if the solid or the ribbed tiles would work best, since I do park in there. I'm not keen on adding another 200 feet + of mopping or cleaning though so would like as low maintenance as possible. I'd appreciate comments. Thanks.

JET98: always nice to have another gal join our forum. are you buying Gladiator cause you are getting Sears close out deals or just because you like their quality? they are nice, but for the same money i'm buying old vintage stuff and liking the look better. I agree if you can post up a few pictures it might help us help you if you have time to. also ask questions if you need help.

a few options for your garage floor are:

1) porcelain tile and Madhatter put in 2x2 squares in his 7 car garage and has even dropped an engine on them and maybe driven 100 cars on them and not any cracks that i've heard of. here's a link to his thread and he's rebuilding a Lambo now so it's even more interesting.

2) Race deck i hear is good and Denwood put down a small section in his old home's garage a while back and his girls use it as their dance floor and here's a link to his thread that has a ton of other good DIY and tech stuff for your home:

are you planting flowers or veggies in a garden? sounds like you might be handy and have a green thumb too so welcome to the group and hope to see you posting on a few of the threads i like to read.

cheers

Thanks for the welcome! We went with Gladiator gear cabinets when they were readily available locally and on sale, and liked them so I figured I'd just add on with those. I'd like to incorporate some red too.

I'm having difficulty loading more than one photo, but here's photo from open garage door facing street looking to back garage door. My two existing Gladiator boxes are to the right, just inside the door. I have a 6' maple workbench ordered for the back corner to the left, along with 4 8' gear wall panels and a 48' shelf to put above the bench. Gear tracks with all my yard tools are on the right wall towards back yard.

Drivesitfar, yes I plants lots of flowers and have a cedar raised beds for vegetables. I also planted 16 fruit trees last year.

JET98: your yard sounds AMAZING with all the good stuff you are growing to eat and look at. a lot of members seem to have the one picture per post issue so check for threads talking about it cause i think there is a fix. are you posting from an Ipad or cell phone which i think might be part of the problem?

also until you get that fixed just make a post per picture if you want to post more pictures. at least you got one picture posted.

i've owned some Gladiator stuff and you could definitely do worse cause they are pretty good quality.

if you want to see a few vintage cabinet options maybe check out a thread i started last year that has a few of mine and a lot of the other members if you might want to mix up your cabinet styles.

cheers and welcome again. also if you have any questions just ask or find threads talking about the thing you are looking for and you might just get your answer with a little searching. if you have a question that hasn't been talked about before and you think is worth a conversation about it then just start a thread in the right section if you have time to.
