Its My Island

I was surfing around the other day and came across this site and was impressed with the different projects and the help offered by other people so I decided to join. I have been trying to build a garage for about ten years but something always comes up and my garage fund is gone again. Know I'm at the point where I have to have one but no money to build it with, so now its a matter of eeking money out here and there till it gets going. A friend of mine built a garage a few years ago that was 34' X 36' with a high pitched roof to match his log house. When he started building it he was going to put a couple dormers on each side and I told him he would get a lot more room in the upstairs if he used a shed dormer (almost the full width of the roof). Well thats exactly what he did, shed dormer front and back and his loft is massive, and he thanks me all the time for the idea. He also installed radiant heat in the floor and it is awesome especially in the winter time, and it cost him very little to heat it with a hot water heater and a circulating pump. In the winter when he pulls his vehicles in all covered with snow and ice it just melts right off his vehicles and runs down the drains except for a little bit of winter road grime that requires him to do some squeegee work. I think
in-floor (radiant) heat is the ultimate way to heat a garage. Anyway I would just like to say hi to everyone and Thank You for letting me join your forum.
