Hi everyone!

I spent quite a bit of time reading the older threads here, and keeping up with the new stuff has become a regular part of my day, so I thought I'd introduce myself.

I do woodworking and general handyman stuff mostly as a hobby. My Dad was really my inspiration for a lot of this. He taught building trades (building a new house from the dirt up) for a junior college, worked as a machinist and a tool and die maker, and owned and operated heavy equipment at various part of his life. He had a shirt that said "If I can't fix it, then it isn't broke." I wanted to be just like him.

I worked on the farm and with Dad at his various endeavors growing up. In college I mostly worked construction jobs, and my first year in AZ I worked as an industrial electrician before I finally landed in the IT world where I have been since.

I'd like to start doing some more metalworking this year. Perhaps a Mig welder, or some sheet metal tools, or even a lathe or small mill.

I've picked up a few great ideas from the threads here. I'm looking forward to being able to contribute a bit to help others.
