Hello, all. My name is the same as my user name. I'm 25 and living in Portland for just over a year now.
I am starting a garage construction project for myself and my friends I'll be living with. There should be a link in my signature to the thread. I am excited about the project of course. I've done all phases of this sort of construction at one point in time or another, but never together, and never had to apply for a building permit of any type yet.
The shop itself will be where all my steel fabrication and textile construction will take place. I'll be making my own line of motorcycle luggage and racks, as well as soft bags, messenger bags, screenprinted patches, and other art. There will be random welding gigs, powdercoating, and painting. I'll also restore a 1966 Volvo 122 early in the garage's life. There are a few tools I'll be making, such as tubing/pipe benders and notchers, engine hoist, angine stand, screenprinting press, et cetera. This will be a busy place where I do what I do and live my life living and breathing creativity.
That's been my introduction, I hope we can all get to know each other better here through our love of garages, and I hope to meet some Portlanders here as well. It seems I've only gotten extensive garage time with people who tend to have disorganized garages, so taking matters into my own hands will be a step in the right direction, so I can remain organized and focused on the work at hand instead of the various messes to be cleaned.
