Hello from Saskatchewan!

Hey everybody, new to the GJ, been here a few weeks and loving all the information so far! I'm Josh, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Bought my first house in October, and it didn't have a garage so we had the builders build a 24x24 with two 9x8 single overhead doors, and a yard facing 8x7 utility door. It's currently unfinished and will need alot of love!

I've been in an apartment ever since I left the nest, so my level of "handiness" is relatively low. Excited to be in a house now and learn everything! My fiance says my first project can be to learn insulating, drywalling, etc in the garage so that eventually I can apply it to the basement. Pretty pumped!

great ploy, use the learning excuse to get the garage done first, why didn't i think of that!

That extra door is a nice touch, to give you back yard access. You guys are so lucky to have laneways still.

Think about adding 2 X 2's to that interior, so you can get more wall insulation in there. I did that to mine.........probably a Beaver Lumber kit from the sixties. It really does pay off!

That's a good suggestion lilredex! We were supposed to have 2x6 framing so that we could put in higher rated insulation, but a bunch of confusion and miscommunication and we ended up with 2x4's. Never considered adding 2x2's! It get's pretty ****** cold here in Saskatchewan in winter. This year has been a treat compared to usual. Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to the board Josh. We also have a Canuck subforum on here-seems lacking in traffic lately. Go up to black tool bar, click on community and then social groups and look for the Canuck flag. And I wish my life let me "learn in the garage" first !
