Hello from SC

HI. My co-worker recommended this site when I started seriously planning my shop. I was just going to lurk. But I want to see photos. So I registered.

I live near Greenville, SC and work as a maintenance tech for a large auto manufacturer. I have done industrial maintenance and construction all my life.

I just broke ground on my shop last week. It will be a pole building with steel trusses. 30ft X 40ft enclosed with another 30ft X 20ft parking area under roof at one end. There will be a 10ft X 24ft room at the opposite end that will be heated and cooled. That will be more of a hobby shop and storage area for stuff that doesn't fit in our small house. Being in SC, humidity is a concern. So I can keep more delicate tools in the conditioned hobby room to minimize rust. Once I get the poles up and foundation/floor finished, the rest should be easy. I'm building on a slope with about 6ft change in elevation between opposite corners. So that means lots of concrete work.

Anyway, This site looks like a great place to get info and inspiration. Thanks in advance.

May I suggest you update your profile with your location as in future you may find that helps. Specially given this is a very global forum. Often you will find subjects may get different answers depending on locations and regulations.
