Hello from SE MI - getting a Mohawk lift installed

I've lurked around this site for a few months in order to learn about different 2-post lift options that would work in my shop/hobby garage at the house. There was a lot of great information here, and it helped me settle on wanting a used Mohawk A7 lift to fit my needs and the space I have available in my shop. The narrow bay profile and ability to fit in sub-12' ceilings were key points for me (I have 11'3" to my ceiling).

I've finally located a suitable lift and will be picking it up this weekend. I've also gone ahead and ordered the ALI lifting guide to make sure I use the correct lift points for my vehicles. The current guide covers 1995-2020 vehicles - but are guides for older vehicles available? I have a 1973 Fiat Sport Spider 850 that I will be restoring, and I wanted to find the correct lift points for that one, too?

I'll post a picture of the lift once it's installed.

The ALI guide is a disappointment IMO way to generic and full of what I see as faults
in the vehicles I researched.
I only used the ALI guide to see if there were vehicle specific warnings their suggested lift points were usually not implemented.


Your common sense and actual areas available to lift from are better.

the bumper rocking push test is a must as is good support stands

@bczygan (Bill) , I'm not far from there at all, just a little NW of there in Marion Twp (just south of Howell, proper). Cool!

@Zmann , thanks for the guidance! I'm new to lifts (I used a friend's once to repair brakes on a GTI I had), so I plan to do plenty of reading before using it regularly, and I appreciate your advice, too.

I swapped engines twice this year on my kids' Equinox (dreaded oil-consumption-leads-to-engine-failure on that GM 2.4L Ecotec 4cyl), and that was all done without a lift. I've reached a point where I'm tired of crawling around on the ground all the time to get anything done under my cars. Also, I've found as I get older that there is only so far I can push my head into the concrete in order to try and see things in focus when I'm under there on my back
