Hello. I built my shop when I first bought my house as a bachelor, priorities right? My plan was to work on one or two VW bug resto projects. However, over the years, I got married with kids and now my shop is collection of old furniture, toys, christmas stuff, band stuff, bug stuff, and (finally) tools, hence the name: CatchAll_shop. I stumbled upon this site googling for garage design ideas and found Jack Olsen's awesome and efficient garage. Of course, that was just the start, now I daily visit GJ. I enjoy the endless ideas and inspiration as well as the commaradarie of the members. I'm still working through a pretty good "honey-do" list but hope to start cleaning out and organizing my shop. Until then, thanks for letting me live vacariously through your projects!-Kevin

Weclome to GJ, Kevin. Keeping the Honey happy with her projects will make your garage re-do go much better. There are a lot of V-Dubbers here at the GJ. I've got a 1965 bus in my garage right now.

Thanks for the warm welcome from the VW crowd! I have a 1972 Super Beetle that I had major plans for: chop top, suicide doors, grafting a oval and ragtop section, etc... However, due to mouths to feed and life in general, I'm re-thinking my plan towards restoring a good running/ handling Bug with a some mild custom touches. I hoping to sell some of the unique parts I had collected to get her roadworthy again. I used to have a 1967 Bus. It had tons of rust damage so I unloaded it. After figuring I would have 2 grand in repair panels not to mentions the hours of drill spot welds and welding, I would be better off looking for a more solid bus.

My 65 split sounds like your 67, so much rust to attack, but since my parents bought this new in 65 and I have so many memories, I have to attempt to restore it. I can't give up that easy. The panels are available and I will buy as I can...

If my 67 was a family vehicle, I certainly wouldn't have unloaded it. I got the bus for free for helping a friend clean out a closed VW repair shop. Unfortunately, the bus had sat for fifteen years with no rear hatch door so it had collected it's share of water. It didn't help that I had my 72 Super disassembled and I bought a fixer-upper house at the same time. I sometimes wish I had gotten rid of it, as the years go by and they get more rare. Luckily you have an awesome family vehicle to restore. My family memories consist of us traveling in the family station wagon. Definitely nothing worth restoring...
