Hey all, I'm Dave and I live with my family in Valencia, CA. I'm a late-bloomer in the garage, a city boy who recently moved to the 'burbs. I've worked on cars plenty, but now I've got all this house honey-do stuff, so it seems like I'm getting acquainted with a new skill every month.

I also work at Harbor Freight and do their social media. If you've ever come across their Facebook page or one of their blog articles, that's me. I also respond to folks looking for help with questions, coupons, problem-solving...

I've been a fan of The Garage Journal since I became aware of it. I usually go to the forum reviews before I get a tool and, yes, I've paid visits to the HF coupon thread for a 25% affiliate coupon when we weren't running them).

Anyway, I thought it was high time I actually joined the group. Thanks for having me!

Got to ask.....Are you in Calabasas or Valencia? I grew up in Calabasas and went to College of the Canyons in Valencia. Even worked at "The Happy Hump" (Magic Mountain) for a short while.

Welcome to GJ. This is nicest set of people that will help you spend ALL YOUR MONEY very quickly.....

Dave: there's nothing better to help sharpen or obtain new skills like home ownership. if i'd only had GJ and YouTube 30 years ago i'd probably have a better house now.

nice to hear we have a HF rep here, but there are quite a few of us including me that would buy an old beat up tool as compared to a shiny new imported one.

if you have any questions about the forum just ask here and now that you are a member you can now ask questions or share your knowledge after reading a thread to get more information. i bet almost half my posts are questions because i try to learn something every day and usually surpass that on this forum alone.

Hi Ray, Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm glad to be here. Yeah, the money thing. Now that I'm cognizant of all the things I can be doing... let's just say, more PB&J's and less steak.

I live in Valencia and WORK in Calabasas. Yeah, it's a gnarly commute. Know the CoC very well, my daughter plays with an orchestra there. Thanks again for saying hi.

drivesitfar, thanks for the welcome! Yeah, I hear what you're saying about tool preference. As I said, I visit forum a bit and know there are different "camps" on various tools and products. Like you, I'm here to learn and will probably be asking a lot more questions than sharing knowledge. At least for a while. Anyway, I look forward to being in the group.

Thanks again for saying hello! :)

Dave: we all ask questions and i bet 1/3 of my posts or more are asking questions. i hang in the vintage tool sections and vise threads so stop on by for a visit. I've been staying clear of the garage gallery and new tools sections for years while my kids have been in college. I've manage to buy a few tools, but bread and water was getting old so i bought some peanut butter instead of another tool.

cheers

Jay Sco, ain't it the truth, though? I keep eyeing the breaker bars. The struggle is real. Thanks for the kind welcome!
