I've been reading the forum for a few weeks to get a feel for the place before I posted.
I've been fixing stuff since I was a kid. Learned beside my grandfathers who've both been gone for close to 30 years, but who still are with me every time I tear into a new job. I have many of their tools and a million lessons that I can never forget. I know for a fact they will turn over in their graves if I ever tighten lug-nuts unevenly or wipe a dipstick with a dirty rag.
I farm on the side, and have that thrifty German blood that makes me spend hours fixing things that many people would throw out, and then prancing around like a rooster when I do get it to work.
I'm glad to be a member here, but I am afraid all the good ideas here are going to end up costing me money.
