I've posted a couple of times, but consider this my official introduction.

I'm a 38 year old single father of one teenaged daughter. I'm a former art school student, but a web developer by profession. I fly a desk most days, but I'm a lifelong garage "piddler". I discovered woodworking in my mid-20s and have made that my primary hobby since. As a sideline, I've developed a love for old machinery (I also frequent OWWM.org and vintagemachinery.org). My goal is to set up my woodshop with a 40's era machine for each task or find a decent machine for that purpose until I can find the perfect vintage specimen.

I'd much rather have an old, quality used tool than buy new. I picked up this and other habits from my late grandfather who lived through the depression and prided himself on reusing or repurposing absolutely everything.

Though I find myself working *on the shop* more than I'm working *in it*, I'd like to develop my woodworking skills enough to build reproductions and furniture of my own design.

Technically, mine is a basement shop, not a garage. But I get the impression I'm not the only one on this board in that boat.

I've already seen a ton of amazing garages and have seen a gajillion ideas I'd like to steal for my own shop. You'll find me "one of those guys" who loves a clean, well organized shop.

T.J.

Welcome to GJ FuturShoc. It's not uncommon to find yourself working on the shop but that's a lot of fun too. The projects will be that much more enjoyable, right?
