Greetings from the southern side of this crazy sphere we all live on, I'm Ben and I hail from a suburb called Campbelltown on the south western fringes of Sydney, NSW, Australia.
At the moment its summer and 35-40 degrees C here so definitely not good (or good depending on your tolerance to excess humidity and heat) weather for tinkering in the garage although my job as a field service auto electrician/ A/C tech on heavy vehicles and earthmoving equipment has me out in the sun most days so I should be used to it, but alas at the end of the day I just wanna escape home to the A/C!
A long time tinkerer I'm surprised its taken me this long to come across this great forum. Originally my work was confined to the single drive through garage and carport of my parents place but 2 years ago, me and two mates began renting a small industrial factory unit in a small block of 8 in Campbelltown's industrial area.
We share the block with a motor mechanic, a cylinder head reconditioner, an automatic transmission specialist, a dedicated Volvo mechanic (has to be crazy!) and a fellow auto electrician among others. Puts us in close proximity to auto parts and hardware stores and being an industrial area we have no problem with after hours noise complaints, something often run into at home.
Pretty much a dream come true, our own little spot to work on cars, tinker with projects, talk ****, drink and party without any repercussions. Late night police patrols have pulled in out of curiosity when seeing the lights on and the complex gate open at 2-3am but as we aren't doing anything wrong they just come in, check it out, say Hi and soon leave.
My major hobbies include restoring my 1977 Holden LX Torana sedan (Australian/NZ members will be familiar with the car, other countries maybe not so much) and restoring/collecting vintage audio equipment.
Heres a few photos for your enjoyment!
