Hi all! I just moved into a new home a couple weeks ago and have a garage that is not much more than storage right now. I am dying to get it cleaned up and the floor coated.

I joined to get some ideas on storage. The garage is a large 3 car with 10ft ceilings. I eventually hope to get three cars in it by getting some things up off the floor. I am a avid car tinkerer and have a ton of things that need to be organized.

The second reason was to research floor coatings. I did a Box store consumer coating on my previous floor. The floor was a mess (25 yrs old) when I started and even though it came out nice, I had a lot of separation after about 5 years.

So now I have a new floor to prep and coat (except where I already spilled brake fluid while doing a brake job last weekend). I will most likely need to do the garage in two sections, which is going to ****, but those are breaks.

Cheers!

Welcome to GJ, 3D. I'm at the north end of the county and also have a 3-car storage room, but the misses insists on getting her car inside every night.

I also joined GJ to find a solution to my floor and ended up with RaceDeck. I had the Bus inside that I had to work around and realized epoxy or other coatings just would not work for me. The tiles allowed me to work in sections.

My shop also had exposed water heater, ductwork and air handler in my garage that made it look cluttered. After surfing GJ for storage ideas, I created some creative cabinets that give me lots of storage and conceals the clutter. Check out the before and current pix in the first post of my Hideout thread to see if it sparks any ideas. If you're in Tampa, I'm not that far away!

For more creative storage ideas, you will want to check out shopnut's Asylum, where he uses every available cubic foot for storage.

Your name also caught my eye as I am in the middle of a family room home theater project that will include 3D glasses...

Welcome to GJ!

Thanks All! Well I just read through the first 60 posts of Wingnut65's hideout thread. It is very much in line with the keeping things off the floor theme that I want.

The racedeck is most likely out of budget since I would need 850 sqft. I'm thinking doing 1/2 the garage at a time with epoxy-coat. I just need to be able to clean up a 1/2 quart oil spill easily, and epoxy seems to the be the answer.

Of course this is day 2 of looking at some of the great ideas and products. And maybe if the old house closes of Friday there will be some funding available... Maybe....
