Hey all, I made a post or two and have done a fair bit of lurking up to this point. I figured I should probably post and introduce myself.

I live in NH on a little over 3 acres in a somewhat rural/suburban area. It's classified as rural but as anyone in new england knows our rural here is a bit different than our west. I've got a 2 car garage and no shed or free standing garage yet (although I plan to change both those in the coming years).

I work in Boston in the tech sector so I commute down on the bus daily. The week is a bit of a grind but I love my job and it pays well so I can't complain.

Since I work with computers building tools for people that work on computers all day it's the last thing I want to do when I get home or on the weekend. I spend my free time hunting, fishing, shooting, working on my truck and general house chores. Dipping my toes into woodworking a bit more mostly to build stuff we need rather than fine furniture.

One of the things I really enjoy is wrenching on stuff. I've worked on my own trucks since I could drive. I do general maintenance but have always dreamed of having a nice little shop where I could do a ground up rebuild on a squarebody, a 66 lincoln continental and first gen silverado HD diesel. My eyes are currently vastly larger than my stomach, but a man has to dream.

My hope is in 2-3 years to have both a plan and the finances together to pay for a free standing garage. My current truck is a '16 Sierra 1500 with a lift and 35s, which means I don't fit into any garage in new england. I'd love to have a spot to work on that along with my projects, and a little corner to work on my guns and do some reloading and arrow work.

I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions, but hopefully I can give back a bit as well. Look forward to the advice from all and reading all the threads.

Welcome from a former NH-er! Loved that area, but it was getting crowded decades ago, especially the southern part of the state. Can't imagine what it's like these days. Is Manchester a suburb of Boston yet? Still, it is a beautiful part of the country.

Hopefully you can find some inspiration and practical knowledge for your future shop!

It's definitely getting worse and worse. Manchester is growing at a rapid pace, and unfortunately opioids have become a serious problem here. It's a beautiful area for sure, wish it wasn't so crowded but what can you do?
