Hello all,

My name is Ed and I live in NE Kansas. We have lived out in the country for 6 years now and I finally have the means to build a 2 car detached garage. The garage will be used to store our boat, mower, atv's and have a small workshop.

In order to save as much money as possible, I will be doing the majority of the work myself. It will be a 24x36 stick built garage. I plan on using 2x4 stud walls with 9' walls, trusses with 4/12 pitch. I will run electricity to the building but no water because there is no way to tie into the existing septic.

I will be posting pictures to document my progress AND I will be HEAVILY reserching this website for suggestions and answers.

See ya,

Ed

I have worked in 24x36' shops and those that have 24' as the depth of the bay are to short by the time you get a bench and tool box in there. If your restricted to the size I would recommend that you have the door on the gable end so that you can have 2 36' deep bays.

Good luck on your build.
