Hi Guys, I've browsed through some great threads on this web-site over the last few months and inspired I set about re-vamping my garage today. It's a modest double garage in Maidenhead, Berkshire west of London. It's home to TVR Griffith 500 and 1958 Aston Martin - beauty & the beast!

I'll get some pictures up shortly but at the moment I'm clearing all the old, half used tins of paint off the shelves to make some space.

Rgds Rich...

Well I spent Sunday down there clearing rubbish and hoovering up cobwebs and spiders. Job one is to fill all the cracks and holes where they get in then I can start painting the ceiling. Pictures to follow.

Ceilings are painted and the walls of the back workshop area which is approximatly a quarter of the area. With that done I can get the new green floor tiles down and start to cleatr the main area ready for the Aston to come back. I still need to get the garage doors painted and then it's ready for the final touch which will be an Aston green band round the waist line of the wall. Once painted I fancy sprucing it up a bit with some period pieces like an old vintage Smiths wall clock and some posters.

Don't know if this the place for this thread but it's seems right. Cheers Rich...

Spend most of the day in there today, got half of the ceiling painted now and half the walls, still wondering how to paint the inside of the garage doors; guess I'll just get started with the brush...

Hi Rich, welcome to the board. My wife and I will be visiting your fine country at the end of May. Going to Cornwall for a week and then to Bath for a week. I hope we can dodge all the Olympics hub-bub. I am looking forward to driving on the " correct" side of the road, so have some patience should you see some eratic driving. Its probably some yank enjoying your countryside.
Myself and others will enjoy your take on how you do things around the old garage.

Cheers!

Here's a few pictures of the working area, before and after. As you can see there was so much junk there before I started that one could hardly move! I've been ruthless and cucked a load of stuff away, given the walls and ceiling a fresh coat of white and put down a racing green floor. It's still a work in progress but at least I can see progress.

On another thread I asked about painting the inside of my garage doors. In the end I used as mini roller and I'm pretty pleased with the results. You can see the unpainted door to the left of this picture in front of my TVR. :)

Well after 4 weeks I can finally say I'm pretty well finished with the tidy-up. Painting the inside of the doors really made a difference and I've added a shamrock green band around the walls to add a splash of colour and give it a professional look :) It's rather bright but meant to be similar to the Aston Martin Racing team flag. I rather like it. All I've got to do now is tidy my tools and clean the rusty ones.

Well here I am 5 years on and I've just moved house and have a new garage space to play with! It's a classic traditional triple garage. The removals guys stacked a couple of hundred boxes in there on 31st March and I'm only just working my way through them however I know it will be a great place to keep my cars.

It's got a double brick thickness back wall but only single skin side walls and of course three up and over doors will lose a lot of warmth. Fortunately it doesn't seem at all damp so I have no plans to do anything to the walls, indeed I won't paint them because even internally they are old stock bricks that match the house. I want to do something with the roof/ceiling to lighten it up. At the moment one just looks up at the black bitumen roll that lines pder the roof tiles. I'm thinking of boarding the loft area for storage but I want to keep the centre clear in case I install a 2 post lift. To get some instant results I will paint the floor in light grey with epoxy paint.

I need to get some racking up, I need to get a decent bench. I also need to improve the security of those up and over doors, indeed I've asked the alarm company to spec out adding the garage to the circuit.

Thoughts? Rich...

Rich: you guys from the UK may not have very big garages, but OMG you have some cool cars. i'll try to check out your COOL CARS thread next to see what else you might have pictures of.

the 2 cars you posted here would be enough for me along with a truck and small trailer so i could still haul my stuff.

cheers
