Never made an introduction thread, newer guy from University Place (Tacoma), WA. Just got me first "shop" a few months ago when we bought a new house.

Luckily the house has a two car attached garage, a separate gardening room for my wife and a 24'x40' shop in the back for me. Not sure of the big plans on how to set it up and what do with it, never had this much room before. Just going to roll with the punches and see where it goes. I know I'll eventually need a lift and more tools. Right now just some basic tools, a work bench, our RC cars, some beer and my Datsun.

Thanks everybody, trying to do a lot of reading and learning on the site.

drivesitfar - I don't mind, it wouldn't be too difficult for people to find out. We paid $400,000 for the house. Luckily/Unluckily (however you look at it) we are cohabiting with my wife's mom. She's recently retired and plans to travel a lot and has limited mobility with a bum leg so we went in together to get the house. Which is nice, breaks up the cost and we got to split our VA loan between her and me so not one of us is stretched thin.

It's a 4 bedroom 1.75 bath house about 1/2 acre. Needs a couple things to be perfect for us, like upgrading the room above the two car garage into a true MIL quarters. But it works for now. Was extremely difficult to find a house in UP that fit our needs. We wanted to stay in UP since my wife, her aunts and mom went to UP schools and our son started here when we first moved back to the area. All the houses we found either had a good sized garage with no gardening room or good yard for gardening but no room for a shop. So when we found this one that had the shop and gardening we jumped on it.

Only problems we have had so far is the pool decided to break so we need to fix that by spring so we have it. And there is a slight crack in the foundation luckily nothing killing the house yet, but it's on high on our list. Plan to fix the craw space into a dry space so we can have a root cellar for long term storage of food and beer. Added a few pics of the house from when it was for sale, sadly we moved in right before winter and the standard PWN winter doesn't make for pretty pictures. Plus our recently adopted puppy has done a good job of tearing up the grass lol. :(

Welcome aboard! Congrats on the new house, looks like a great place to live. I see you have quite a bit of room in that garage, don't worry, that will change soon once you start diving into the threads on this site ha.

Oh yes, definitely a good amount of room, but could always use more. :bounce:. Only complaint with it right now would be the ceiling height for a lift and redo the garage doors to open different. I've got room for the max jax, but would be nice to have a foot or two more for a full two post. And it needs a proper driveway. The gravel road down the side of the house is ok, but it has grass in front of the shop and would prefer to have a concrete pad.

but I've done a couple things to personalize and some what use the shop for now. Had a craftsman workbench from a house I was renting I set up so we have some sort of work area. Then took my sons old 6 drawer dresser and using it for storage in the shop. Then the cheesy hang up the flag and license plates.

Right now plenty of room since the Datsun and the RC Cars are the only vehicle in the shop right now. Until we get the next project vehicle for my wife (30-40 or late 50s truck)
