Hi, Ole Guy here.
Retired Navy, later worked in manufacturing and shipyards. Mostly into metal working and some interest in cars.
I have a 2500 sq ft shop with about 1/3 heated for my machine shop, two drive in bays but neither has enough height for a car hoist. I have available, both a 2 post Western 3500# hoist and an old Globe 1000# in-ground and plan to put up a 12ft X 32ft RV carport unit on a concrete slab for either of these hoists.
I hesitate to go with the 2 post since the unit width would be restrictive on either side of the posts in a 12ft wide building.
So I am seriously considering the old Globe in-ground since the 1000# capacity will handle my 1936 IH 2 ton truck during restoration, etc.. (the RV cover will be it's new home.) It's 22ft long without the bed so won't fit in my shop.

Glad to find this group.
I also frequent the home machinist group (www.chaski.org)
