Found this site looking for info to run 240v to my detached 52'x32' garage. It has 120v now but looks like I need to run a new wire and install a new breaker panel. I plan on hooking up a welder and air compressor, that will probably be the only things that will require 240v.

They make nice 240v space heaters as well...just saying, ya never know what you may accumulate.

Depending on how the wires are ran now you may be able to add 1 new hot in underground conduit or new triplex for above ground.

Above Ground triplex is eaiser in my opinion. Good luck with the project and welcome to the forum.

Welcometo TGJ from Ohio! You're going to like it here.....your wallet might not, but you will! You can start a thread in the electrical section and go from there. If underground, run the 2" PVC and do I tight. Good luck.

ERIK: instead of just running one wire at a time can you maybe put in a new service in your shop or are you all out of garage funds? if you stick around here you'll need a 220 compressor, to go with your welder, heat, lots of light, tons of outlets to power up all your new tools and so on.

i hear the electrical threads and the members that post there are amazing, but i've yet to post or read any of them cause i haven't had the need yet. as you can see i have a few posts, but mostly in the vintage tools and garage gallery sections helping and learning from members.
