Hello TGJ community,
I started reading one of the members post (gent building large shop in VT) and got hooked. I loved seeing some of the tips while he's pouring the slab, like the drain and insulation, and also love the bantering over the heated floor.
Where I'm from Washington state (living near Seattle, building near Spokane), I'm curious about the foam insulation under the slab. Is it simply for thermal transfer? Required by code? I've not seen this in our area. Only a vapor barrier being used. If for thermal, it makes sense to me, but seems spendy, especially ones going to heat it.
I'm planning a 40 x 60 with a high bay on one end (for lift) and the man cave on the other (heated separately). Above the man cave will be a deck for the apt. looking at the lake. I too was considering the pony wall thought for the apt. as I've seen mentioned from others. Any thoughts of where to go find plans similar I can tweak.
Appreciate all your help with this, and thanks for having me,
James
