Hi guys,

I have been lurking and getting some ideas on my future Garage/Shop. There are a lot of great ideas that I will someday use.

So here is my situation, The place I plan to live is pretty much out in the sticks. My Girlfriend grew up there and she didn't have any grid power growing up, so her dad put together a Hydro electric system that is currently running 4 homes off the creek and an old desil generator.

So it looks like I may end up living up there and to keep me sane I am going to need some sort of garage where I can woodwork, Weld, Fab, work on trucks.

I have a plenty supply of lumber becasue her dad is a logger and he has all the equipment to turn logs into boards and they own TONS of property, this parcel we are looking at is about 20 acres I believe.

Grid power should be down there this summer so I am looking forward to that, although i want to run a Radient heating system for the garage and the house i don't know much about them yet. I do plan on having a wood stove because there is a plenty suppy of firewood (Madrone, Fur)

Also this is on the Reservation and I don't think i am going to have to get any permits or anything, I should be able to just build, so as long as i have sturdy plans i would be happy.

Nice site here guys, i look forward to talking with you.

I took some people up there and they should have some pictures of it, if i can get ahold of them i will post them.

it is pretty primitive, some of the power poles have "character"

up there it is a trade off, you have all the room you want but the nearest grocery store is over an hour away. that is why i want to be pretty independent up there.

it is very cool, the down fall is the maintence, when there is a stom and the wheel gets plugged up with **** then you have to go up there and clean it out, or if a pole goes down then you have to go strip a new tree and put it back yourself because no one else will do it.

but when grid power makes it way down there, i think some sort of reverse metering thing would be ideal, that was you can run the alternative energy when you want to save on your bill. Plus its eco frendly as well.
