Hello! Question about a Morton bid... A bit high?

We moved from the country and we had a 30x40 building with electrical. Our builder said it only cost him $10,000 for all of that back in 2006 and that was with a 10x10 garage door.

We got tired of the lack of maintenance form our township moved back into town, now getting bids for an area behind our house. Morton guy hard as could be to get a bid out of him let alone many calls just to get him to give us one. He said I could probably fit a 24x27 building in this area behind our house. He gave a quote for a 18WX27LX12H. No electrical whatsoever, looks like concrete driveway would be figured for $54,924.00. What you all think about that? I could see that for a larger building, but no insulation or any add on's looks pretty excessive. I have someone who is a Lester rep going to give me a bid Friday so will see what I get out of him. Any one know what electrical usually would cost alone just for a basic setup to run from a house 30' to a building site? Back in 2011 I got my entire driveway done about 95'x30' for $20,000 which to me was a steal and also 5" thick. Maybe those days are gone? Thanks!

That sounds very high, but there is no way you were getting a 30x40 anything for 10k in 2006

On your electrical question, you'll be looking at at least a couple grand if you hire it out. Trenching, panel, interior and exterior wiring, fittings, receptacles, boxes, permits, etc.

A couple thousand give or take a few more is not that bad for electrical, just the way the bid alone sounded so inflated. I would just be happy for a 20x27', but for that price I will keep looking.

As best as I can tell Morton isn't interested in building "small" buildings. I visited my local Morton showroom twice and called them once and could never get them to bid my 24x48x14' with full insulation and interior. Built in 2012, the winning bid was ~$29K, not including electrical or concrete and the bid I went with was not the lowest price bid.

For a pole building I would expect about $30 per square feet for a complete insulated and interior finished building without concrete and electrical.
