Just found these forums while looking for garage organization ideas.
We (My wife and I) just bought a house that has an oversized (wide and deep) one car garage with a gorgeous old workbench made of what I suspect is an old bowling alley floor (The previous owners estate left a tub of bowling alley wax) and iron pipes.
Mostly it will be used for household projects, auto mechanic work (I've got an old Corvette project car), 3d printing and laser cutting / engraving, and whatever other projects I can get into with the space available. I do also have a shed with a workbench in it 🤔

Project 1 after unpacking is lighting. Currently there is 1 12 ft fluorescent fixture (only 1 bulb works) and 1 normal incandescent ceiling mounted lightbulb with a pull chain. LED ceiling lights will be coming soon haha.

Welcome from the rainy PNW!

Whatever you end up doing re lighting, try and make sure that you have light directly from above your work areas, whether that's general lighting or dedicated task lighting. Nothing worse than always working in your own shadow :) I ended up putting 4' LED tube lights above my workbench, lathe and mill back in CA to avoid this as my eyes got older; I'll do the same here on Lopez when I get the shop done....
