Well, I suppose I started out backwards by posting my garage plan before actually introducing myself.
First off, What an amazing forum! Just reading for the last few months has given me a ton of great ideas!
While I am currently garageless, I am hoping to change that in the next few months. By my nature I am very mechanically inclined. I started with auto class for two years of high school, but my real garage skills developed beginning with my first car. It was given to me as a graduation present, but after only two weeks it randomly died and blew a huge cloud of smoke across the freeway - warped block burned every drop of both oil and water in milliseconds. I learned then that sometimes, a car that has idled at 1500+ rpms for the last 5+ years, should probably be left that way...
Once home, I lifted the hood...stared at this huge mess of random new age car parts and wires...
My dad gave me the option to help me buy another car to get me to work, but I quickly decided that I thought I could, and wanted to fix it myself.
Needless to say, I did quite a bit more than "fix it". It was quite the learning experience; many people that have worked on this platform say it is one of the biggest PITA to work on, so I guess I picked a good place to start! Lots of people say the manufacturer had extra driveshafts and gas tanks, and built a car around it, LOL! I still have this car, and I don't believe I could ever sell it, even though its not some fancy muscle car or sleek STI or some other famous car. In fact I sort of like the fact most people wouldn't take a second look at it.
I really enjoy working on my cars and all sorts of other various projects; now I just need a place to do it again!
I really look forward to reading more from all the garage gurus on this forum!
