I'm sort of new here, been looking stuff up here for a while. Right now I'm looking for some help about a camelback drill press.

But about me, I live in upstate NY and run a one-man show making reproductions, repairing and restoring brass and tinplate lighting fixtures that date from around 1780 to 1860. I've got a pretty complete circa 1865 tinsmithing shop as well as 3 mills, 3 lathes, SB shaper, die filer, horizontal hacksaw and some woodworking tools.

Right now I'm finishing work on a 1960s Clausing 6900 14"x48" lathe that took a nose dive to the floor. It's been disassembled, cleaned, painted and put back together again, still have some repair work to the apron that cracked in the fall. This is my newest piece except for a Prazi bench mill that I bought back around 2000. My 9" South Bend lathe was made around 1933.

I've been doing this stuff since around 1992, before that it was work on dairy farms and selling dairy farm supplies. I never made a whole lot of money and have to work to the end but since I really like what I do I don't call it work. I've never felt the need to say TGIF except for about 2 months maybe 50 years ago. I'm looking forward to 'meeting' some of you guys. Joel

Thanks for the welcome. I'll see if I can figure out how to add some photos. I uploaded 7 but have no idea if they will send with this, one way to find out so here goes.

Three are before, in the middle and almost done of my Clausing lathe and the others are stuff I make - 3 lamps and one is a painted copper leaderbox that's part of a rain gutter system. All these things are reproductions of old pieces.

I'm looking for a camelback drill press not because I really need one but it is something I can maybe afford to put on my bucket list of things to do or get. My SB shaper is sort of in the same category and a horizontal mill I got a year ago is too. Trying to cram in some things I wish I had done a good many years ago.
