I was wondering how everyone is storing their helmets. I have motocross and full-face street helmets that I would like out of the way but haven't seen anything I like yet. In total, we have 2 street helmets and 5 MX ones. Pics would be extremely helpful.

I stack milkcrates floor to ceiling , wire tie them together in the back. Forms a collum.
Cut out the front of each crate leaving an inch or so around the border. Works great for helmets, boots, all sorts of stuff.

I keep a few of mine on a shelf/cabinet top in the garage.

My current lids store in a cabinet in the trailer.

My old helmets get donated to kids at the track or my riding buddies. I see no need to have more than two helmets for each rider and to me they are like old socks - once I get new, I really don't have a need for the old. Some folks seem to have emotional attachments I guess.

Cheap metal L brackets (actually free in my case) + some plywood = shelves around the garage.

On one shelf above my garage 'desk' I have my 2 street helmets, my wifey's helmet and my kid's helmet + the 2 12 gauge shotguns and the 20 gauge in the soft cases....behind the helmets.

I found a real old green ARMY Locker. Added angle IRON to the bottom for strength, put some casters on it, cedar backing and some shelves, then painted it RED.

Your YZ is sweet! What year is it? I had a '83 back in the day. I would love to have a '76 YZ125, along with many other classics.

Bob

Hey Bob,

This one's an 82. I also have an 81, and hope to have more someday. I love old YZ's and MX's.

The old AT, HT, DT, etc enduros are neat also.

Thanks for the nice comment!

I use Office Depot clear plastic file boxes. They go for $10 on perpetual sale. Then I stack them on a chrome wire NSF shelving unit from Costco (4' wide 6' high x 18" deep) which I bought a bunch of for $73 each. I use them for all kinds of storage, including helmets. A shelving unit holds up to 12 boxes and is rated for 600 pounds.

I like the shelving units because they're clean, strong, they roll on casters, and I've never seen anything for less than $73 that wasn't particle board or plastic.

I like the file boxes which are polyproplyene because they keep out dust, moisture and rodents (unlike cardboard boxes). They are the perfect size for helmets (one helmet per box). They keep the helmets from dust, scratches, and they prevent some falls because they will not roll like the helmet itself.

It is a bit too costly in materials and space for basic bicycle/skate type helmets, but if your helmets are many hundreds of dollars it is worth it.

i keep my helmet either in the saddlebag of the bagger or hanging from the handle bars of the chopper.........depends on which i rode last. personally i can't wait for the helmet laws to be repealed, then i can throw the POS away.

Keep our good ones in the closet shelf of the front room. The other are taking up space on the garage shelves.
