A real 5HP electric motor, rated for compressor duty?

It is just a 60 gal compressor. A whole new compressor from home depot is only $469.

You might want to look again. Home Depot's website doesn't show any 5hp compressors for $469. The 5hp ones run around $1000.
Like steevo says pay attention to amps, 5hp peak is different than 5hp running. I picked up a compressor that needed a motor (5 hp running @ ~21 amps) those jokers are expensive!! I didn't think about it when i bought it!
The peak ones are around 3hp running. I called everywhere and there were no where under 200 bucks, iirc weg, emerson,etc had some that wasn't too bad ..i can't recall exact price but i want to say around 300 or so. In the end i found a new one under 200 (including shipping) on ebay (baldor motor) and that required some looking! I'd start there if you're trying for under 200 and need ~21 amp ..maybe something will popup
now the 3hp running ones...those can be found about anywhere like surplus center, etc others have posted.

If it's a typical 60 gallon single cylinder, the motor would be more like 3.2HP. 5HP is typically on the twin cylinder compressors. Your's may well be different - depends on the compressor pump and what it really takes to run it. Tractor Supply carries compressor duty motors, but not 5HP units under $200.

Do you have a motor that is not working, or is the motor missing ?

Size of tank means very little. What make and model of pump is on it, and what are that pumps HP requirements?

Just to add, compressor need a motor with a service factor (SF) of minimum 1.15 to live up to it potential.
