Looks like you are not running hot enough and too much wire speed. It's practice for sure... I know guys that welding everyday that can run beads with stick welder that look nicer than my MIG welds.

few things first

Good clean metal, wire brush and then brake clean it or acetone it( wait till it is dry)

Brake cleaner and welding is recipie for an early death. Im not a welder but I do know that there have been several deaths and near deaths using brake cleaner on welds. even if it does not kill you it can permanently disable you. Use something else.

I think they may sell spools of wire at Fazzio's. It would probably be better than the stuff they sell at Harbor Freight. I think the new Tractor Supply right off the Atlantic City Expressway by Texas Roadhouse has some good welding supplies. Since it opened I put it in my Fazzio's/ Cooks machine, run.

I couldnt see anything either when I started. Wound up getting an 8 or 9 gold filter and I could see everything.

it sounds lihe your wire speed is to fast, turn your heat up as high as you can without burning through after a few seconds, slow down your feed and weld in slow circular motions, don't stay in one spot to long but once you see the puddleing keep moving.the best thing you can do is get an auto darkining helmet with shade adjustment of between 9-13 that way you can experiment and see what shade works for you ,not everyone can weld with the same shade.also try not to stop anymore than you have to.good luck.

Sure chlorinated brake cleaner, but that isn't commonly sold.

Every Walmart - big red can, says "BRAKE CLEAN". Great stuff, keep a dozen on the shelf. DO NOT USE ON ANYTHING TO BE WELDED. READ THE LABEL.

Brake clean that isn't chlorinated is piss. And cleans like piss. Worthless.
