New member here looking for some help. I have been searching around some of the threads on here and stumbled across this work bench. I have a single family home with a one car garage and very little space. I would love to create a work bench such as the one pictured below so I would be able to roll out my tools to the driveway and be able to work in the garage. I think this would give me the best option for my limited work space. Rather then create a standing work bench I would maximize my space by being able to move my work bench as I see fit. I am good with following plans just have not gotten to the point where I can build what I see in my head. If anyone else has any other idea's then please post them up. Thanks for the help.

A modification on that idea..

I've got a 1 car too ...never a car in it, i'm planning to cantilever with steel shelf supports a shelf/work surface area along part of a wall, then underneath it have something like this (smaller width though) which i can roll out. For more working space on the pull out i'd have a a leaf fold out from the back (since the depth would be smaller to have it tuck under the work shelf).

My reasoning behind that is things like miter saw, small drill press could stay on the shelf but i could roll out a work bench to the driveway for projects.

Same here, never had a car inside either. I like the idea of having leafs of modules where I could just store the miter saw or table saw out of the way and use them as I need them. Part of the problem is it I have an attached garage so I track in a little saw dust from the garage and generally create a good size mess in the garage that is impossible to clean up 100%. The saw dust just gets everywhere, I vacuum during every project it just doesn't seem to be good enough to keep up with the mess. Figured moving all of the cutting outside of the garage that would help fight a lot of the problem.

I can't really help you with plans off hand, google for 'mobile workbench plans' should bring up a ton and i'm sure others will chime in later in the day. But that one you posted looks pretty simple, standard workbench type with 2bys, some pdf, and casters.

If you do a lot of cutting you may even consider having the table saw on the mobile table flush with the top then...something like these:

some are simple, some complicated but in general the jest is the saw level with the workbench top.

I ended with with one of the portable table saws with wheels and it folds up, the bosch one. I think doing something like the above is better though.., one day i'll do that and remove the hand truck portion from it.

Another thing i've done is put a rollup plastic sheet that hangs across the garage splitting it in 2. I drop it for cutting, sanding, etc i keep all my stuff i want to keep clean on the back end. When I'm done I blow it out..still a bit of work but it keeps my bicyles, toolboxes, and stuff pretty clean. But yeah if you can/will roll it outside that's the best bet.

This is a good idea too for compactness during storage, guess depends on how sturdy you need it:

Built a few work benches in my time. Never really had a plan. It should be easy enough to drop one end of the bench lower to accommodate the table saw. I tried to make a stand for my saw that would roll up to the work bench. But with out a level surface on the driveway or garage there would always be some shimming to do.

I know you are interested in a mobile work table, but I wanted to share one of my work tables that was inspired by the awesome "12 gauge garage" on this forum. I have a two car garage and try to preserve a space for my wife to park her car. Luckily she drives a hatchback. I mounted this table to wall next to her car. When collaped it measures exactly 5" from the wall. The table top surface is 20" X 5'. I mounted the table to wall using a french cleat lag screwed to the studs. I don't know what the weight limit is, but I have had 3 gallons of paint, a couple of hammers, and some other misc hand tools at the same time without failure. I use the table primarily for dry assembly of small wood working projects, soldering station, and sharpening station. It's come in very handy. Good luck!
