HELP-Cement repair question, outside foundation area

Please see pics below,,,

I need to repair this somehow,,,,

Area is about 12-15",,,and wedge shaped,,,,

I have the "piece" that came off,,,,,

Not sure what happened,,,just noticed it while doing some yard work.

This is on my detached garage,,,,back corner,,,,,

What is the best way to repair this ??

Not real familiar with cement repair stuff,,,,

Can i re-use the piece that came off ?,,,, cement it back in ? grout ?

what are you trying to achieve? Structual stability or cosmetic

Cosmetic ,,, i dont "think" there is any structural issues to deal with so far.

I was going to use some mortar ?

If you just want cosmetic than get the epoxy for cement work and attach the broken peice to it. That way it is still the same color and you don't have to make a form for a new peice.
But if that simply fell off with no visual impacts than I would question the rest of the pour.

If you are using mortar to glue it back on, be sure to dampen the foundation and chip with water. This allows the capillary action to pull the mortar into the the foundation and chip.

I do concrete patching and quality control for a living on precast boxes panels and so on. I would use a high quality patch such a Water Plug. You wont find it at Home depot you will need to got to a contractor supply store. Ill list this in steps
1 Clean very good with a wire bush
2 put tapcon concrete screws in existing foundation to act as rebar studs
3 blow clean with compressed air
4 make a 90degree mold out of plywood
5 smash mold to foundation with a sand bag or something
6 mix patch wet or to the consitency of thick pudding
7 pour patch in from the top
8 use a palm sander or rubber mallet on the mold to vibrate the patch into every nook and canny.
9 Let it sit for 30min if using water plug.
10 remove mold slowly
11 use wet sponge to smooth patch and feather in the edges.
12 stand back and look at your good work

Don't forget to caulk between the foundation/brick so this doesn't happen again....my guess is your downspout was leaking a bit causing water to sit on top of the foundation then it froze....just a guess!
