help choosing a 3/8 impact gun

hi guys,

I'm new to this forum and would like to say hello to all.

I'm in the process of choosing a 3/8 impact gun .

Ingersoll Rand 2115QtiMAX seems a good one ,can any one tell me a place to buy IR tools in UK(North London)? marmax.co.uk sell the for £195 but i would like to buy from a shop or a van mainly because ease of aftersale service.

my Snap On dealer on the other hand offered me a new MG31 for £160 ,is it a good price for that ?

I would not mind paying little bt extra for a better tool , but there should be someone i can turn into if the things go wrong (like a shop or van)

any advice is much appreciated

I own a MG31 and have used the 2115QTiMAX, the IR is more comfortable and the power and direction selector is much easier to use. The MG31 has more power though in my observations and I got if for a comparable price. As far as pricing I really don't know enough about the value of the pound compared to the dollar and the price of goods over there to comment on that.

I have a mac badged Ingersoll Rand classic style IR-212; it works awesome and I couldn't be happier with it. A tried and true design and not too expensive either; a little over half the price of the newer designed Ti model!

The above isn't a modern design but the Ingersoll-Rand 3/8 in. Impact Wrench, Ultra-Duty IR-2115Ti would be and has the light composite body as well, it is almost twice the price however:

I love my 2115QTi, with a 3/8-1/2 adapter I can zip off most lug nuts with out any problem (If i want), I can only immagine the 2115QTi MAX is that much better! HIGHLY recomended
My old boss had the percusor to the mg 31 (maybe it was an mg 31 idk)
I thought is was a toatal POS, very loud, poor ergonomics and not allot of power. take it FWIW

My nitrocat gun is pretty nice. Power is definitely over rated, but it hits extremely smooth (pin clutch, not a regular hammer) and it too can handle lug nuts on at least my car (torqued to 80ftlbs) and our SUV (torqued to 110ftlbs). Neither one gives it a problem, which I think is definitely adequate for a 3/8 gun. Around 160$ for the nitrocat with the pin clutch, like 130$ for the aircat with the regular hammer. I have been happy, and it is a cheaper alternative to the IR Ti line. Made in Taiwan, which is at least better than China.

Possibly. I guess I am mistaken, but I know it isn't a traditional hammer design in the gun's hammer case, makes it feel a bit different when you use it, but I like it. Keeps the vibrations down.

Nitrocat makes a twin clutch and a twin hammer design. The twin clutch is smoother but has less power than the twin hammer and wears out faster.
