Help choosing a pattern

Hello All,
Newbie here.
This will be one of many help me threads in deciding what to do with my garage.
I've found some 12" x 24" porcelain floor tiles in black, white and grey.
My garage is 22' wide by 30' deep.
I'm thinking of putting black and white in checkerboard in the center and grey along the edges.
Your thoughts gents?

Are you thinking of doing 2 tiles at a time giving you a 24 x 24 of one color? Or going 12 x 24 of one color?

Yes 2 tiles together to make squares.
Everything else doesn't look symmetrical to me.

Can you post a picture of the grey tile so we can see?

My suggestion is to lay out a small test area with different patterns and colors to see what you think looks best. I, too, have found some 12" X 24" porcelain tiles that I'd like to put down. After playing around with different layouts, my opinion is that going with a checkered pattern of 24" X 24" looks best. And I found black tiles make it look dark quickly, so I was thinking a black boarder with grey and white checkered would look nice.

The grey is actually very similar to the carpet the tiles are sitting on. The black tiles are a light black and the white an off white as you can see in this picture. All have flakes in them.

Definitely do this^^. I would say lay out an area at least the size of a car if you have the room and let it sit for a few days. You will see it when you come home in the afternoon and when you wake up in the morning. If you like it for a week you will probably not regret it once its permanent.

Can you provide any specs. on the tiles you found?

BTW...I noticed what you have in the garage. I have a red '84 944 (hence my screen name) that is all original and in great condition. I hope to someday get a real Porsche though!

I went with this 75/25 pattern as the 50/50 pattern seemed too dark.

The tiles are coming from a customer of mine that sells tiles. These are left over from a large job and he's selling them to me for $2.70 sq/ft

Solid porcelain heat acid and frost proof. Full body

will it see lot of use such as mechanical work or will you be bringing in mud/slush from outdoors? If so, you may reconsider the white and change to perhaps grey or some other color. My friend did blk/wht and the white is light grey now with some interspersed stains that never quite came out.

General car repairs and in the winter the sled will be inside to thaw.
Maybe I'll let some oil sit on the white and see if it stains. According to the supplier it shouldn't. It is just a garage though.
