help cold room

I have a room that over hangs from the rest of the house and the floor is always very cold in the winter. So I decided to get it spray foamed

I was told that it should have r-28 insulation in the floor.

I got a quote and was told I need 4 inches to acheive that is that correct? Will it be worth while to get more than 4inches and raise the r value even more? I dont want to have to get it redone because its still cold in the winter

Sorry, the room sticks our from the rest of the house, but how,
it it on poles/timber, or is there a crawl space?

If it is on poles/timbers you will have to seal what they spray (jmo).
If it's crawl space they can install sealed insulation, insulation in a complete
plastic wrap. Not one sided aluminum foil!

I would not use expaning foam, over time it de-gases the polycarbons,
it also is a place where bugs like to set up.
I would only spray pink flake, not treated paper pulp but this is not viable for
a underside situation.

Type insulation in your favorite search engine and you can figure out
what the bidder stated.

The thing that has always bugged me as a contractor seeing these guys spraying this stuff every place is simple,How do you get back in to work on electrical/duct work and plumbing stuff after its covered in 4" of foam?
That clown mikey holmes never talks about that part when his guys are covering romex with that ****.

I would not spray foam under the floor, if you can help it. A well done job will do a very good job of sealing any air leaks, but it will likely be sprayed directly to the floor deck. This means the floor will almost always be cooler than the surrounding air during the winter. For warmish floors you want an airspace between the floor deck and the insulation underneath with of course excellent air sealing.
