HELP compressor wiring problem

I wonder if some one can help decipher this motor label? I THINK I read it right, but when i connected it...it tripped the breaker.

How do you have it wired? Post a pic of how you connected the the incoming power.

OK....feeling purty stoopid now.....You said post a picture of how you wired it then it hit me.....I had the ground wire connected wrong....hope I didn't do any damage The ground wire simply connects to the green screw inside the motor's junction box, correct?

What did you have the ground connected to? You probably are fine because the breaker did its job and tripped.

I had the ground connected to the "bottom set" of wires shown on the motor. Since there was nothing designated for these to connect to, I assumed the ground went there. A dumb mistake, but I don't wire motors every day. Maybe this flub will remind me for the next few years....

I know of at least one other person who did something like that. Most of us here do too.
