Hello, Does anyone have a part number and date for this box? I think "Dunlap" made these for Craftsman. I'm not sure. I have seen others that are similar boxes, but they did not have the slide trays. Looks like it's from the late 1950's.
Debuted in the 45 Christmas catalog, only year it appeared in the tool catalog was, as OTG said, 1946. The one posted by the OP is trashed. Missing the very unique dual pawl cylinder lock, bolted on latch. Handle looks in pretty good shape. That's a parts box at best.
Those have been hard to find for me. Only one I've been able to buy is in similar condition, and I got it as part of a bundle clean out deal. $125 is WAY too much tho, I. My opinion.
Another cool thing about that box is that’s it’s the only tool set I can find where the cone or bullet sockets were offered in 3-8 drive. Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread
