my son in law comes up to me on Easter at my Sister's house and asked me to look at his car since I've owned 5 Honda CRV and still own a couple. i'm not a mechanic, but it didn't seem right because engine was moving more than i can ever remember mine doing.
he said he didn't know how long that was going on because it is his wife's (my 25 year old daughter's) car. he was planning on coming down this week to my house so i told him I would take it to the mechanic i use and he could drive home my car.
well on their way home they heard a pop in the engine and instead of pulling over ran it about 4 miles until the car died on the freeway. my daughter has towing insurance so car was towed to my mechanics garage.
sorry for the long drawn out story, but after a half a day and only a $75 charge from the mechanic he found the sheared off bolt from probably an over or under tightened timing belt change when my daughter dated a different guy and took it to his mechanic instead of mine. the timing belt slipped off and since my son in law didn't know better i'm pretty sure there is major damage, but not sure.
long story short the engine is now trashed or not running without major repairs, and my mechanic isn't able to buy or put a used or new one in. anybody have time or an engine and want to fix this, or good ideas or sources i can use? She just made her last payment after 7 years of owning it and also just paid for the tabs for next year. i feel terrible for her and my son in law and i'm not a mechanic.
yes she should have come to me sooner and said something, but even good kids don't always do the right thing.
HELP!!!! if this isn't the right place to post this please let me know where would be.

People don't learn if they don't pay a price.
